Stupid Aiptasia

I have been fighting the damn glass anemones and aiptasia for awhile now, but I was not aware until just a few moments ago, that Copperband Butterflies will eat them. Some Peppermint Shrimp eat them, but they are very hard to find. Will the Copperband eat other corals? Do they really eat the aiptasia? I have a torch coral, goniopora, leather coral, xenia, anemone, sea fan, galaxia, etc. Hopefully he won't pick at any of these. Maybe I should've posted this in fish...

Ya I heard they do a good job on the aptasia. I thought I heard that they may nip at corals, not sure though

also another note: I recently read, in a book, that peppermint shrimps dont necessarily eat aiptasia. as to the validity of that statement? who knows. but Its the pocket guide to inverts and its usually spot on on about many things. I have been fortunate enough to not have an outbreak of any, but I thought Id just pass that on before you go trying to find/pay money for something that may or may not work.

I would try the peppermint shrimp first. They worked great for me.
And would be less of a risk to your corals than the butterfly.

I would try the peppermint shrimp as well. I've had 3 outbreaks in my tank in 2 years, and everytime I added a peppermint shrimp and they aiptasia were gone within a couple of days.

Bergia Nudibranchs work great if you don't have anything that will eat them like peppermint shrimp, coral banded shrimp, large crabs, or other similar inhabitants. I had a Sally Lightfoot crab and a Coral-banded shrimp so added the Bergias to my QT and cycled the most heavily infested rock into the QT and then back to the display after they ate the Aptasia. The 8-12 nudi's that I could see would clear a rock about twice the size of a softball in about 2-3 weeks.

I used Blue Vet Rx Aiptasia Control made by Blue Life. I just used it last night and all of my Aiptasia are gone. I bought it from my Lfs, I don't know where else you could get it from, btw it is reef safe. Good Luck
