So not only am I out my laptop, but now my desktop (purchased 4/20) has to go back to get fixed. My puter will not connect to the Internet at all. It is definitely the puter. It is missing the network adapter (or driver). This bites. I am not going to be able to complete my college term. :(

Thanks! I'm going to get a wireless adapter and try that. I was told I have a 50/50 shot. Oneguy- I tried to hook my comcast modem directly through an Ethernet cable and it was a no go. My control panel has no driver for an internet connection.

Where did you get your computer from?
Usually this is a software issue, that is easily fixable. The reason I ask is that if it is a dell, then identifying the driver needed is pretty simple.

If the computer isn't detecting the driver chances are you can just reinstall it. Try the link below from a friends machine or some other internet connection and see if you can get the driver you need.
http://support.asus.com/download/options.aspx?SLanguage=en&type=1
And, dont EVER buy a computer from Best Buy again. You'll pay a little more, but go direct to one of the big manufacturers like Dell or HP. That way if something goes bad you can go to them for support and not the yahoos at BB.

I just got a new puter and 125 in store credit. My puter would not load at geek squad (new issue) and was stuck in configuring updates. The tech waited for 40 minutes and my puter did nothing. Apparently, the storm I had on Thursday night shorted my puter. Normally they would ship it out, but they approved an exchange. They did this because I was there last night flipping out about my laptop (they said it was ready and they didn't even have it and the techs that have the laptop didn't relplace the ram for a second time they replaced the hard drive for a second time). I got the store credit because the new puter is selling for less than what I paid. I'm happy with this resolution.
