Sturdy Stand?

Has anyone used the "Aquatic Fundamentals 75/90 Gallon Upright Aquarium Stand" or something similar to it? It's sold by that large pet store chain whose icon is a red dog and a blue cat. It's currently available at a nice price on their website, but... fiberboard? Is it as sturdy as they claim?
If anyone's had experience with this stand or a similar one, please let me know asap. The deal ends on 3/15/10.
Thanks!

Sturdy enough initially to take the load? Sure. The load bearing strength of fiberboard is decent enough. Does it say just fiberboard? Or MDF?
As I'm sure you realize the issue is going to be longevity. Once fiberboard gets wet, it swells and warps, which will lead to failure.

The description called it 'dense fiberboard'. I'm not sure what MDF is.

Supposedly it has a 'water resistant powder finish', whatever that is. I mostly just need the stand to last me a year or two after which I'll be moving and can either invest in a new stand or, as may be more likely, upgrade the tank to a bigger size. I hear that happens a lot in this hobby.

That stand will last a year or two unless your real sloppy with your maintenance but I dont see it being a problem IMO

MDF stands for M
edium D
ensity F
iberborad. Pretty much if you've ever seen a couple of su
oofers installed in a car, they used MDF to built the box. Or a pair of floor speakers for home audio. It's much more rigid and weighty then plywood or particle board.
Like particle board, it's engineered lumber, but instead of large pieces of wood like particle board, it's very small, dust-like particles. If they call it dense fiberboard, it's probably MDF.
