My return pump is noisy so I placed a piece of styrofoam underneith the pump and it solve the noise problem. Here's my question, is styrofoam going to harm anything in my tank?
i imagine there are extensive chemicals used to create styrofoam... it floats, but the chemicals may enter the water.. not too sure. better to be safe then sorry, imo
try a prefilter pad instead...
Styrofoam is virtually indestructible, unless you burn it. As far as leaching chemicals into the water I think it is highly unlikely. If it stops the noise I'd use it.
