Substrate for dogface??

I know dogface puffers are not really compatible with DSBs and was wondering what substrate is best suited for them. I did a thread search and came up empty. This will be a fish only w/ live rock 100 gal tank with fluval 404 and 2 rio 800 powerheads. I'm considering 2"-3" pebble stones from the beach on a bare bottom for cleaning purposes and lack of debris to blow around. What do you dogface owners prefer??

I would probably go with aragonite sand. I would not do a bare bottom because this might make a puffer uncomfortable as it sits on the bottom of the tank, an act you will witness quite often.

The bottom would actually be stone. If I do a shallow aragonite like my 75 will it be coarse enough to keep dust plumes to a minimum? My bristles are constantly creating fine dust from the rock.

Yes, my aragonite does not make my tank dusty or cloudy at all. I am able to vacuum it without it clouding the tank at all. It also does not trap nitrates like crushed coral will.
