Substrate for refugium and flow

I have had my reef tank setp for 1 1/2 years decided to ad a seperate refugium and am wondering the flow rate I should have going through it.I also would like to know about the substrate I have a bag of miricle mud and also a bag of argonite sand should I use both or one or the other.Also if I use both sand on bottom or the mud and how many inches of sand and how many of the mud any help would be appriciated.I am tring to set everything up today.Thank you Bill

I used mineral mud in mine and its doing great. I would mix the mud and sand together and use that. My flow rate is on the low-moderate end with an overflow back into my sump.
