Substrate question

Is crushed coral a poor substrate? In some of these strings I have heard people allleging of adverse afffects of crushed coral.

YEs Crushed Coral traps nitrates, changing it out has dropped mine drastically!

It's another one of those debatable issues. From my experience in this hobby I'd say yes it is a very poor substrate, however there are some that have had NO problems with crushed coral. I prefer sand. I also suggest that you do a search on this board for crushed coral and you will come up with a wealth of information. Or even crushed coral vs sand search.
