Suction Cup issue

I have a bunch of coraline algae on the back of my tank and I am trying to introduce a CL to my system....I have a rio 1100 (300 gph) in the middle of the tank to get things moving and 2) MaxiJet 1200's in the corners....anyway, enough about the material:
The suction cups won't stick to the back of the tank on the rio pump!! They will stick to the sides and front (were I clean of course) but won't stick to the back. I have tried my damnedest to clean a spot off on the back wall, but to no avail! Is there any type of glue or anything that I can use that is safe in the tank, but will also allow me to remove the pump if I ever want to change it up??????
Thanks!

Suction cups piss me off. I used to love them, but eventually they always turn to crap. I noticed that when I put a new powerhead in with new suction cups, it sticks to the same spot wonderfully for many, many months. Then I take it out to clean it, put it back and it falls within a week. I tried a strategy where you keep the suction cups as dry as possible (especially the part that touches the glass) before submerging it, finding a spot for it, then pushing it into the glass very hard. This worked well and was about the only way I could get anything with suction cups to stick. I noticed if you have suction cup that has been submerged for a long time, then try to reposition it without drying it, it usually doesn't hold. But following the above steps, you get much better holding strength and endurance. If your cups are old, try getting some new ones, or if you have to, revitalize the old ones. I used to get really really hot water and some sort of clamp, soak the cup for a few minutes, take it out and clamp it so it'll return to it's original form. After repeating this several times, turning the cup each time, you should be able to get more life and suction from a cup.

There's a gizmo called the SURE GRIP, which uses magnets to hold PHs.
A tad pricy ($20+) and I'm not sure if they'll work with a Rio. They're designed to work with Maxis, Tunze Streams, and Seios.
Somewhere there's a thread about somebody wanting to adapt a mag-float to hold a PH.

instead of going all out and buying some new equipment, why dont you try using a razor and scraping some coraline off of the back wall to make a spot for your suction cups?

Go and boil some water and drop your suction cups in till they are soft and pliable again. A great way to rejuvenate the suction cups. Always works for me.
Take a scraper and clean the coralline algae off the glass and poof no more slipping and ---- eyed P/h

i use the sure grip 50's with my two seio m820's and they're great.. completely secure and you can reposition them without getting your hands wet.
