Suggestions for DIY Cabinet

I've been working on building a cab for a 120 gal (48x24x24) tank. As far as the frame, this is what I'm planning to do. Notice that there is no middle support in the front. That's why I used a 2x6 at the top as a header. I believe this will be suffient. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

That design looks like it will work fine, IMO. I imagine you could get away with just a 4x4 across the front instead of the 2x6. Im building a cabinet for a 90gal (48x18x24) and plan to use 2x4's, with no vertical center brace in the front.
What software you use for that drawing? very nice. sure beats my hand-sketchs done while sitting in my car.

That design looks way over built. If your stand is too rigid then your stand will have no give for ninor imperfections that could stress the tank. If you notice the majority of store bought stands have no top reinforcement and usually have 1 inch sides and maybe some corner supports. I have attached a link to the thread that shows how I did the frame on my 125 gallon satnd. I used oak for the wood. I did put vertical 2-2 supports in the corner that the picture does not show.

Actually I used Excel. Turned out pretty good. If you think a 2x6 is overdoing it, I actually ended up with a 7 1/4". i didn't realize it until I got home. It tirned out fine though. I was very pleased though because I just finished the frame it turned out perfectly level, which was my big concern.

The stand looks great. I am not sure if I ever did a thread on the canopy. Everything is looking really good and I may actually start selling stands and canopies online and in some local stores. It drives me nuts how much even basic 2-3 door pine stands and canopies are in the LFS.
