Yup, have some patience. Get some live Ghost Shrimp for him to "stalk". He will eat those. All the while you can continue to show offer him krill and drop chunks of frozen silversides in front of him. If he doesnt take them, you can scoop them back up with a net, and try again.

I always had success by floating a bag of water with the feeder fish in it at the top of the tank so it can hide or anything. Sooner or later the lion sees it and swims up and starts watching it, then attacking the outside of the bag, then u just drop the fish near the lions head and it gets it. Only takes a few times before the lion grabs the fish before it hits the water, at that point you can subsitute whatever you wish instead of live fish. And within a month you wont need the floating bag at all. Its worked flawlessly in the past for 5 different lions, all types.
good luck!

Ok thanks for the ideas guys the only problem with the silver ides and ghost shrimp is that the lunare wrasse always comes by and snatches it up lol oh well i figured it would take awhile for him to settle in. Thanks!!! Mad

I got a fuzzy dwarf lionfish in December, luckily mine was never given live foods so that made things alot easier for me. But when I got her she would only eat frozen brine shrimp. This went on for quite sometime and I was concerned as I offered mysis, krill, etc and she would pick out the brineshrimp. Oneday I was feeding my clowns some brineshrimp flakes and there were small chunks of freeze dried brineshrimp. She quickly gobbled them up and then went back to perch in her favorite area of the tank.
The next day I thought that if she would come to the top for that maybe I can get her to eat some krill now. Well, now I have to really watch, when the lid opens guess whom is there and waiting. I have just enough time to drop it into the water and everything and anything she eats. She will even pick the odd flakes too. So now she is eating a much better variety of foods and I could not be happier.
One thing I can suggest to you is what I did. When I first got her I would shut off the filters, no water movment at all. I would take a piece of frozen brineshrimp and slide it with a stick down to the bottom of the tank. She would circle it and attack it like crazy. This is the way I fed her for quite sometime. I then started to leave the fitlers on but I slowed them down so they don't blow the food all over the place. I really think this is the key here, if the food blows all over they will not go and get it until they are comfortable in their surroundings. Now I leave the filters on full as the clown fish much prefer to eat this way and I drop small pieces of krill etc from some tweezers and she snaps them up rightaway. So patience and time is really needed here. But I would be glad to help you if I can, I am no expert at all but they are truly fun fish to have and watch. They are worse than puppies and think they are starving everytime you walk into the room.
Good luck.....Deb

Great! Thanks for the advice my problem is when i leave it laying there the wrasse is too quick and the lion not interested enough to care...but yeah it seams like its still getting used to the tank.

I have to hang a krill on the edge/lip of the tank so that the head of the krill is in the water. Then he comes up and grabs it :D He wont grab it from a feeding stick or my fingers and my current is to strong to let it float around, he tries to catch it,but has no luck. Now that he knows where i hang the kril he goes over to that spot whenever he is hungry.
