So I am helping a friend with his 300 gallon tank (72L X 36W X 28H). We want to put 3 to 4 400 watt halides and some actinic T-5's on it. Anyone have any suggestions as to a light fixture or do you think retrofit is going to be easier/cheaper?

what is he going to keep? if it's going to be sps, i'd agree with 3 x 400 watters. research hamilton fixtures. they come 3 x 400 with t-5 or VHO supplement.
meanwhile, a retro will always be cheaper.

Okay, so I am looking at a fixture by Outer Orbits that is a 72" with (3) 250 watt halides, power compact actinics, and 12 blue led moon lights. Does anyone know if I can find something like that with 400 watt halides?
It is going to be an SPS tank, so we definitely want to make sure it is well lit.
