Suggestions, please.

This probably belongs in in the disease section, but I figure this forum gets the first visit.
I have a fish only tank that has been up and running since June. It succesfully cycled by the end of July. Fish stayed healthy and happy until October. I added another fish at that point and roughly a week later they started dying off. All water parameters were good. I figure the last fish started the death and destruction.
I did not overload the tank.
There is no life at all in this tank for about 5 days now.
My question is, how long should I leave this tank running with no life to kill off whatever is left there?
Thanks all.

30 days, or 4-6 weeks. And that is if it was an ick problem.

Ah..Thus it is recommended to quarenteen new arrivals for 30 days in a dedicated Q-tank. As you have learned one fish can wipe out a whole system. All you need is a 10 or 20 gallon tank, heater, filter and your all set. If you need to preform hypo-salinity a refractometer is also advised. The refractometer is much more accurate than a hydrometer and you will always use it for any salt water tank, including water changes.

One more qusetion.
If the fish had ick,or a parasite for that matter, and they all died off, would snails be affected?
