my cowfish is in my reef. he does not bother anyone. he's more likely to be bothered by the smaller fish. i had one that was pestered to death by a lawnmower blenny. they are so slow they couldn't run down a snail:) . i doubt he could catch your fish. the 55 would probably only be big enough to house him for a year or max 2 years and it would have to be a really small one to begin with.
i dont have alot of experience with anthias. i just got this one recently. from what ive read you should either have a single male or 1 male and at least 2-4 females. he is cool with all my fish except the firefish. i think the common high dorsal fin is what annoys him. the anthia stays in the open in the morning and evening when the lighting is more subdued. when the halides come on he likes to stay in his cave. this is the only time my firefish comes out now. i hope they will get used to each other or i will have to move the firefish to the 30 gal.
now that i think about it im going to have to recommend you stay away from the cowfish. a 55 would probably be pushing it as far as minimum tank size. they get big, eat alot and crap alot.

if you do decide on firefish, make sure to get them in odd numbers. i have never been able to keep a pair. i tried 3 times and always ended up with 1. i tried it with 3 and it worked out much better. they were all fine for a long time until one eventually disappeared. a few days later the other one was dead. maybe its just my luck. so as usual i still have just one.

well first u should test ur water to see if all the levels r good, which they probly r, but u, can never be too safe. also, im pretty suer carpets eat fish, or so im told, small ones anyway, and with a 150g u can get nice sized ones so u shouldnt have to worry bout that. i think triggers r cool, but they can only be kept with other more agresive fish, so they kindof narrow down ur choice of fish. its fun starting a new tank, so have fun, and u mite have to spend over 75:eek:

the cowfish does not bother any fish in the tank. there is no way he could even think of bothering the firefish. its kinda like a turtle trying to catch a rabbit.

if im not mistaken but Coral Banded Shrimps can attack fish, theres a picture below of someone having a problem with their CBS*not my picture, i do not claim it as my own* of trying to kill their fish. If it looks like the CBS is cleaning the fish, it might infact try to eat it, keep it fed, perhaps that might detore it from attacking. I dont know if they actually clean fish, not all shrimps clean, harliquin shrimp doesnt not clean fish
