I am a complete newbie and was wondering if someone in detail could explain sump setups to me. Me being completely new before I start spending money I want to know how to set it up. What I am looking for is a way to put more water volume into a setup. More water volume is usually means to easier upkeep and mistakes dont go bad real fast. Figure it is nice footing for someone just getting into marine fish keeping. I am willing to read so if someone can point me in the direction of URLs will detailed explainations or books to purchase or even if willing to explain here it would be much appreciated. Thank you

A sump is a tank or other object that takes in water from the tank usually by means of an overflow. In the sump you can place various things as protein skimmer, heater, carbon bags, bio media,...etc that you do not want to put into your tank. The water is returned to the tank with a water pump.
