Sump - Need to make return water chamber bigger

Ok i have a 10g sump..
I run out of water in about a day in the RETURN chamber ( Far right)
I would like to make it double the size so when i go on vacation my friend can come every 2 days rather than every 1 day..
As you can see that on the far right is the return chamber..
I'm trying to figure out how to make it have more water volume.. but i'm no expert on this (this is my first sump just by reading and it was done)
1. I could move my 3 peices of glass over and then make it bigger that way
2. Make the glass higher so there is more water volume in the chamber
3. Or what happens if I make the Glass LOWER on the 3rd piece of glass so there is more water flowing in to the return chamber (my dad thinks this will work - but can't grasp my head around it) I think i would need to move it all over and go up
I did the volume calculation by LxWxH to get right now around 4 Leters of water.. But my calcuations could be wrong.
I think the major problem is with my Skimmer that is haning on the back.. as when i turn off the PUMPS to feed them more water will get sucked in to the skimmer and less in the return chamber..
Any help would be great as i have help this week to fix this matter.

Could always make your baffles a little bit taller and make your fuge a little bit smaller.

Do you have room for a bucket or something near by? I don't have a water source near the tank either so I was going to fill a 5 gallon bucket and place it next to the tank for it to grab out of. If I was to alter the sump I would make the baffles higher. Increase the water volume some. You look like you have a fair amount of room to do that. What I did with the baffles is the second one I had go all the way to the top of the tank and leave an inch of clearing on the bottom. The water goes over the first under the second and over the 3rd in mine. This would allow you to increase the amount of water you have in the sump.

Why does the water only go down in the RETURN CHAMBER.. is this due to evaperation? and not the other ones..

I'm no expert but I think I can answer this one. The water goes down in the main tank but is refilled instantly by the sump pushing water up into it... the sump shows the evaporation, while the top always looks full.

i do and don't have room for a bucket..
If i make it bigger do i need to increase all the BAFFLES or just the middle one
