Sump problems

I just got my overflow, and got the whole deal running but the return pump is spitting tons of little bubbles into my DT. I have a Mag7 returning water to my 30g, and an overflow box that is drainning the water to the sump.
The water being dumped into the sump is sending tons of bubbles into my sump...is this where all the bubbles are coming from?
I am just using and 18g tall as my sump, and dont have any baffles or anything in the tank...just put my skimmer, heater, return pump in there.
Any ideas? I am going to build a standpipe either way, just wondering if that could be the solution.

it could be where your skimmer is dumping water back in if it's near the return it can pull air bubbles.

i had the same problem, tons of tiny air bubbles, the water coming out of the skimmer could be causing the problem, turn the return tube so that it hits the side of the sump wall, or the return pump is pumping to fast, that was our problem, i put a ball valve on my pump to slow it down just a tiny bit, it was keeping the water level to low therefore sucking air and water causing tons of bubbles !! the ball valve allows the water level to stay above the return pump at all times allowing only water , no air, fixing the problems. good luck ....
