sump/refuge question

I am designing my sump/refuge with water incoming on left, return in middle, and refuge on right. I will put 3 baffles between the section of water in and return area. The middle baffle will be taller and 1" off of bottom.
Here is my question: For proper flow should the baffle on the left of the middle baffle be slightly taller than the baffle on the right of the middle baffle? Say like a 1/4"?
I looked on melevs reef and they look the same height.
I was looking at model F.

The baffle and left and right can both be the same height. As long as they are both bigger than the middle baffle.

I'm not sure what you mean by "as long as they are both bigger than the middle baffle".
Please explain.

I am not sure either, but the two baffles in question can be of the same height.

Heres a little pic I whipped up on paint in a few secs. Its not to scale, but its good enough. Hope it helps.
That was what I thought. So should they be like a 1/4" different in height or more?
It looked like AlMc said they could be the same height.

Fish freak.....How are you goimg to get water flow in the 'right' hand refugium compartment based on your diagram?

Are you talking about the outer baffles being different in height or the outer baffle being taller than the inner baffle? The outer baffle should be at about 1/4 to 1/2" taller than the middle one. But you can have it greater. Just keep in mind that the height of the baffles will determine the water level of that section.

just be sur that you will still have room for back flow in case of a power outage. i knew someone who made the outer baffles too tall and when he tested it flooded. so keep that in mind.
