I am unfamilar with the terms in this subject, but I'll try anyway. When you have a sump/refugium underneath your tank, is there a relationship to the size of the tank and the size of the sump? Ex. 50 gallon tank = ? sump. Thanks.

Bigger is better. What your trying to do is add the most water to the tank. More water = a more stable tank. So go with the biggest sump/refugium you can fit under your tank.

Bobo bascially covered it. Also you will probably want to make the refugium as large as is possible for maximum results. I happen to have a 30 gal sum and 30 gal fuge under my 125 but under diffrent circumstances I would have chosen a 15/45 gal set up I think.
