sump setup

im just trying to setup a sump to hide all my hardware, so i was just going to use a 10 gallon tank. then i was thinking a 20 gallon long would be really nice, but my stand only has space for 10 1/2 in. in it. if a 20 long doesnt fit, would it work to put 2 10s down there and have the overflow draining into one, then have my canister filter pumping from that tank to the other 10 and then have to pump put it back to the MT?

I wouldn't think that it would be a good idea. If the canister for some reason stops working you will end up over flowing the first 10 gal. You may want to put the first tank higher then the 2nd and use some type of gravity feed method.
