Sump Troubles

I was building a sump, and my friend gave me his pump that i was going to use as a return pump its a magflo 780 i believe... Now the problem is my canister filter which i was going to use to get water from the tank to the sump pumps 340gph... any ideas on wether the 4 ft of head that the magflo will pump through will slow it down so that i can use these together, or should i run small powerhead or somethign to pump more water to the sump. Any help much appreciated.

You can not run two pumps that way...You will never get them "balanced" or matched for flow on any consistant level...
You must use an overflow (gravity drain) and a single pump system...and the overflow must match or be able to handle the flow the pump puts into the tank...
Pump up...gravity drain down...
