sump

I am setting up a sump under my 110g.
I have a coralife ss220 that I want to put in the same side as the water coming down from the tank.
On the other side I would like to set up a mix of rubble and vegetation. The return pump would be on the same side.
Would this work?
Anyone have any pictures?

I'd recommend 3 sections......the skimmer on one side, the fuge (for algae) on the other side, and then they meet in the middle where the return pump it. use pvc to tee off the water from the tank so half goes to the fuge and half to the skimmer and they'll meet in the middle. I wouldn't put the return pump in the fuge.
I have a picture of my sump/fuge, you'll have to go searching the my posts.

Thank you!!!
What about having one of the overflows go into the fuge, and one into the skimmer portion?

oh yeah, that works. I thought you were saying that you only had one overflow. you definitely want to put ball valves on all the pipes because you may want to slow down the water flow rate that's coming from the tank. I have a 65 gallon filter like described. my tank is 180 gallons with an overflow going to each side of the filter. that's around 600 gallons per hour from each overflow, which is A LOT, causes some splashing.

Let me know what you think:
The sump I bought (cheap ) needs baffles added.
I'm going to take both overflows into the protein skimmer portion.
On the other side I'm going to put rubble and culerpa (Is that right)
Also on this side I'm going to put the return pump.
(I had planned on dividing the remaining portion into two, one for fuge, and one for return pump, I can make those modifications later if I decide)

2 overflow going into one section is going to be A LOT of waterflow and I would not recommend doing that. even one overflow to each end may be a lot, but if you have 2 overflows going into one small sections, you are probably going to have water splashing out over the sides.

i have read that chaeto is better than calerpa, something to do with its sexuality....lol. try to slant your first baffle / that way, to cut down on micro bubbles going into fuge, they will stick to that slant. check the skimmer for recommendations for pump and return placement, some are different. the ev120 for example says for best results, pump in from first stage of fuge, and return to last stage of fuge.
