how long have you had it? give it a day or two. believe me i brought mine back from the brink of death like it was totally pathetic looking but after about a day in the tank it started eating like mad. now it looks great & even has new polyps. are you planning on feeding it mainly brine? brine isnt reccommended for fish because of its lack of nutrients, i dont know if the same thing is true for corals, but you may want to get some frozen mysis shrimp instead. good luck!

yes i am aware of that, the LFS only had brine so i "had" to get it. I was planning on getting cyclop-eeze and/or mysis. Also im mizing the bring in witth a little dried phyto because of it not being nutritional enough

sounds good.

how long have you had the sun? watch it after the lights go out it may not open till then.

just a few days...when the lights go out my atnics come out... i don't think that's the main problem atleast... <or maybe, feeback> the "main" problem must be that sun is in a restaurant... we close at 9:30 on the week days... but, on friday we close and 10:30 I'm going to try and camp him to see if he'll open... hopefully he does
cuase i hate to see a 50.00 coral die

hmm, was it open in the LFS? do you have any other corals in the tank its in? do you know the tank's parameters? (i realize you probably arent at the restaurant right now.) i would say just make sure the params and everythings in line and give it a few days. you cant really force it to eat so just give it an occasional squirt of food and watch it.

1) i got it from SWF.com

2) Yes, I am actually connected to the Internet at the restarurant.
My paras are fine
all my coral are alive but that's the problem the sun coral isn't like "all the other corals"

I have 5 sun corals 1 black 3 orange and 1 yellow..I feed them every 1-3 days it is important to have a large CC to eat the food that goes to the SB to prevent the nitrates from going up. I hand feed them mysis or use a baster also with mysis and they have been thriving they even started to spawn shortly after I got them I have one for a year and my last one I added has been doing great for 6 weeks. They do need proper care unless you have some great power heads that will get them food in the caves they should be in. I have mine in holes and under LR to shade them from strong lighting. The main problem I think people have if they spot feed them or try shooting them in with mysis is the other fish get in and shrimp and cc and get all the food. the best time for feeding is in the middle of the night or when the lights have been off for several hours this gives the fish time to go to thier "quaters" for the night and the suns polyps to open..then if you even pour in mysis they will get more than in the middle of the day. It is best to then use a baster or spot feed them with your hand or tweezers. If the Polyps are still not open try using a syringe and directly shoot in the mysis into the coral. Hope this was helpful.

I have my suncoral in an overhang just like ive researched its sunggley fit in it and yes my flow does flow through it... Its been aroudn 5 days still no lucky on open polyps...
the tisse decrease isn't as bad bt still 1 or 2 polyps have skeletal-ized

I got mine from SWF also. I cut the top off a 2 liter bottle and coverd the sun coral with it and squirted mysis and cyclopeeze mixed in. After 20 minutes or so they opened up for the first time. Now after the lights go out, they open up great every night. I still cover them so the other critters can't steal the food, and feed every other day.

I've use a turkey baster with 2 cubes of mysis. I turn off the filer and powerheads to eliminate flow and spot fee. I have had a lot of success with this method. At first, it took about 1 week for my sun to fully open. I would lay mysis on top of it to entice it to extend its tenticles. That eventually worked and now it eats like a pig.

IT LIVES!!!!!

after many late nights and trial feedings it finally will open to my phyto chumming!!!
AND better yet i've trained it to open spontaneously during the evening!!!!

Thanks to all that helped
