Suncoral Eating Goldfish!

It doesn't care if it's live or not if it's weakened enough to grab hold of it. It may puke it up though because it's big.
I know you're not asking about this, but you shouldn't feed your lion gold fish. If you have to feed it live freshwater food, get mollies or guppies.

Yeah, I would watch out for the coral just basically rejecting it shortly.
And, as with the above, I third the "don't feed lionfish goldfish" idea :) Totally unecessary, with a risk of exposing a beautiful tank and fish to diseases from a .10 cent feeder fish.

i appreciate the advice on the goldies! I new they were real fatty but I didnt kow they could spread disease into a saltwater tank. Thanks I will hold off on the rest of the feeders. I was worried cause my FuManChu is not eating and wanted to get something in his gut.

is it a new fish or an established fish? How often has it been since it has eaten?
New lionfish, esp those that have been fed live food, can be downright stubborn and spoiled in terms of eating other food. Often we panic if they don't eat for 2 or 3 days when this is not an issue. But as mentioned, if needed, mollies or guppies would be better from a dietary perspective.

Goldfish flesh is really high in Thiaminase which is an enzyme, a chemical that destroys or inactivates thiamine (B1).
Thiamine Deficiency Syndrome can kill your fish.

I read a post where a reefer that fed goldfish 1st soak there feeder fish in garlic/vitiam to get some nutrition out of them. I also read where one sick reefer used a needle to inject nutrients into his 10 cent feeder fish.

But it's an issue of the wrong kind of nutrients. It may be low in some areas, and can be supplemented, but it's also high in other areas, such as lipids. This has been associated with Fatty Liver Disease.

Actually, I kind of missed what you had said. You better not read any of my threads... I too am a needle weilding hobbyist. You really should look at the life of a "Feeder Fish" in it's entirety, there are many aspects one may protest if they were aware. Soaking a live fish in vitamins is worse than injecting them, IMO.
Do I wish I didn't have to feed out guppies? Of course I do. I work very very hard to get them off. But I do what I have to do to feed my fish, some of which would not be easily replaceable.

(I want to say, Cranberry, this is not directed at you in the slightest
)
In general, for most species and size of lionfish that hobbyists are keeping, feeding live feeders - let alone goldfish - is generally unecessary. IME, once established, lionfish can be fed a variety of food, allowing for a diverse diet. And few are particularly finicky about it.
So the concept of soaking or injecting or whatever an asian freshwater carp (aka goldfish) to feed to these lionfish is strange to me to say the least. Again not talking about the exceptions - particularly small individuals, etc like Cranberry works with raising.
Feeder fish do not in any way have a nice life in general. Being soaked in high concentration vitamins would basically cause some very very unpleasant membrane dynamics on a cellular level...injection would be far better, if we are talking about humane treatment.

man! thats awesome lol. i wish i took snaps of my PLATECORAL eating my clown goby, he was beat up and weak other fish got him good

[hr]
!
then he swam to close an the tentacles got him an it was over. then a week later it ate one of my hermit crabs :(

I should say it's not common practice on my part. I have a couple of fish right now that I can't get off guppies. They've been on them too long and I have still to come across a guppy nutritional assay. Drives me nuts. So a little Thiamine injection.....

I have a Radiata that is not moving to silver side the way i'd like. and if the guppies are small at the LFS my Royal Gramma eats them. For some reason my Radiata doesn't go after food the way my volitan does. heck my volitan will grab chunks of brine...if i let him.
