thanks psucor and puffer.... i have had an issue which has been affecting my sps corals for a while ... many would slowly die off from the tips downward....
i thought it was the lights burning the corals but i finally figured it out it was my salt....
ive been using Ocean Pure Pro and it has elevated borate readings 4x's the amount of NSW... and i guess borate is a form of alkalinity and it registers on ur alk test but it inflates the reading more then the true carbonate hardness truly is.... so my alk was running on average between 7-8dkh but in reality was around 5-6dkh due to the elevated borate which is used to help the alk and ca in the salt mix dissolve faster into the water when mixing....
needless to say i finally figured this out after losing many nice sps pieces over the last year and i could not figure it out....
well i changed my salt to tropi Marin 2 weeks ago and have done 100 gallons in water changes so far and all my sps that had burnt tips are growing back fast and regenerating those tips
so im kinda excited cuz ive never been able to keep montis and stag type acros they were very succesptable to the low alk readings....
but now even a small monti digi frag i had that was 50% dead is 100% better now ....
lol sorry to go on about this but its been so annoying for me as to y so many acros would slowly die off or barely grow when all water paramters were excellent..... but now everything has turned around 100% so im excited to see how the acros all do in the next few months

Squishy... thanks for the compliment as far as the feeding of my sps i really dont feed them anything... all i do is feed my fish every other day and vary foods and i guess the acros feed off light and fish food and fish poop lol .... i tried oyster eggs a few times but didnt see anything noticably change in the acros so i gave up on that.... what salt do u use?
Reeffreak.... green slimers or acropora yongei are alot thinner in there branches and the coralites are more spaced out.... i have a 4" frag of one in my tank... im still not sure what it is yet but im loookin
