I beleive natural sunlight does cause algae growth, plus it will heat your tank. I have always kept my tanks out of direct sunlight.:D

I agree with the previous posts.
It is, however, possible to set up a tank with lotsa desirable macro algae and use sunlight instead of artificial lights. The result would be an extremely low maintenance tank. Plus you wouldn't have to worry about power outages.

the tank isnt actually near the windows,its about 15 feet away from the window,first thing in the morning we have to open the blinds for the stupid parrot or he raises hell all day,the light is just very bright and i didnt want to create any problems

i would say that its direct sunlight,that is why ni asked because i walked in there this morning and saw how nice it looked with the suns rays beaming through the water

I have a 75 gallon with just the left corner of the tank getting some sun, my carpet anemone and my pink tip have both moved to this area. My pink tip has tripled in size and the carpet is just starting to show signs of some growth. The pink tip is huge.
