I got this rock 6" with 15+ super colored ricoreas it was very very expensive...but a beautiful piece...what is the best way to care for it I did a lot of reaserch but I'm curious to see if ppl's opinions...
I placed it low on a rock just on top of the sb on the bottom of the tank to get it acclimated to my MH lighting and then after a few weeks I'll put it in my desired position althrough I like where it is now...my phosephates are 0 and levels are all supreme..mag 1380,calcium 450,alk,11 dkh,tries,0trates,0 ammonia,0 ph 8.2 sa. 1.025 temp 79F
any other info on this coral or experiences from you guys to maximize quick and healthy growth would be appreciated...it is spaced from any other corals..in its special corner..if i'm missing something please...

A picture of these super colored rics would be awesome. Showing us pictures is how you truley care for them.

+1 ^ yes indeed! Pictures Pleeeeeaze!
Mine is set up high, close to my MH, but at an angle ~ doing well and splitting (about 3 months). From what I've read thats what these like. Here's a pic of my placement.

All my rics prefer the bottom.
I could be wrong, and if someone else is having good luck with this particular one elsewhere please let me know. I did get a printout on these from the company I ordered it from, and it stated that this particular one preferred brighter lighting, and should be placed up near the lights at a 45 degree angle. Not saying they know best ~ just saying thats what it said
.
Espkh9 do your look similar to mine? If so you're going to love them under actinic and moon lighting ~ very cool!

here are a few pics from today day 1 some have less polyps since the pics where taken after an hour then some after afew hours I don't think any were taken under MH lighting will do that tom and see if it gets comfy in the tank and opens up more...hope you all enjoy.

i have like 10 pics and upgraded to photbucket pro but cant resize them..so the 2 pics are with my cell phone...still nice!

A good policy is to start low, then move them up until you find the "sweet spot."
Nice ric rock, by the way.

I start them on the bottom and then either leave it there or let it acclimate to mh and put it high it loos nicer i think under actinics...thank you!

thats a lot of ricordea on one rock, nice color too. with that many polyps I would be scared to ask how much it was.
but as for lighting all my rics are in the top 9 inches of may tank under 440w VHO, I wouldnt center them under your halides high up right away but I think you'll find in the long run ricordea florida does really well in fairly high light.

Espkh9, Amazing! Those are indeed the same ricordias that I've got, and given what I paid for only one polyp, the price of that rock must have been astronomical! I double-checked Borneman, Sprung, and Sprung/Delbeck this morning, and all agree that with proper light acclimation Fl. ricordia will do well high in the tank, so long as it is not placed directly under MH and is placed horizontal to the light source. My lights sits about 10 inches above my tank and my rockwork ends about 5 inches below the waterline, so mine is about 15" inches below the light, off to the side, and about 45 degrees to the light. Again that is an amazing rock ~ enjoy and best wishes!

Thanks everyone..its day 2 and belive it or not the coral looks even better...will try and get some more pics on later but I think u guys got the idea...i counted the polyps today it was 18 and alot of the are splitting anyways very good and i'm happy you guys like them they were expensive and I didn't wann feel like I spent too much for something that isn't worth it...but I love it. I have it on the bottom of the tank because I like the position but mostly because I want to slowly get it used to the MH. I have other green ricordeas on a slant in the upper third of my tank my mh is 6 inches from the top anyways they are thriving started with 5 polyps after 6 months have about 12...some are not as neon green as the others but under actinics and moonlights they look sick. but I think with my intense MH lighting the bottom of the tank will do these ricordeas just fine since the light goes all the way down nicely. anyways I appreciate the compliments and thanks and will update in the future
