OK, I'm driving down tonight to pick up a couple yellow/blue rics.
I have some orange, yellow, blue and purples to look at tomorrow. Thanks a lot. It's only money, right. Stupid saltwater addiction. There needs to be a "12 step" forum.
I'll start a thread w/ pics when they get settled.

Haha sounds about right. I had to write a how-to paper for a class of mine: How to Start a Saltwater Tank in 31 Simple Steps.
It very much resembles that one, only with 18 more steps involving crying at the cash register of the LFS, more begging, and pawning furniture for metal halides

Well, I did it. They turned out to be orange. I also picked up some other necessities, you know, a hammer and two more mushroom rocks and yellow button polyps and orange zoos and another paly polyp......

Starting new thread. https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/317642/went-to-pick-up-some-rics-and-came-home-with-several-bags-of-stuff#post_2580891

Last I read on the subject (few years ago), collection of Fl. ricordia in Florida is prohibited by law. Things may have changed since, but thats part of why the prices are so high ~ collected Fl ricordia are actually collected in some other country (or so I seem to remember).

I know that many come from Haiti.
I didn't realize that it was illegal to collect rics in fla.
There are some fish that we are not allowed to have because they are protectd by the state of CA. Not to mention the caulerpa issue.

why are they so expensive ?
is there a place where you can go to and dive and collect coral anywhere i'll make my next vacation there..would they allow you legally to bring corals into the U.S. ? or ship them in without a license ?
I would think diving for corals and fish and getting them for free would not only be great and keep the money in the bank to pay my bills but exciting if it is legal... ?
