Super Gluing..

Depending what your trying to do, you might be able to use a rubberband for the job. Like I recently split a star polyp colony and used a rubberband to hold down the new colony where I wanted them to be instead of putting superglue into my tank. Yes it is supposed to be completely safe but why take chances if you dont have to? Just my .02 cents.

Regular ole Krazy/Super Glue will work. There are also special underwater glues that bond in your tank. There a bit more expensive though. You should be able to find this @ a LFS or HD

I think that it is best to use superglue gel for mushrooms and ricordeas if you don't want to use the rubberbands and nets.
BTW, do you have to superglue sponges? I want a sponge later on this year and need to know how it situates itself in the tank. :)

Try Super glue from a good R/C Hobby shop The thick stuff is designated CA+ (thick gel) there is no comparison none at all. Theres a few different brand names. You could buy it online I suppose. Also it doesn't go bad for a long time in the frig. It's just more refined ,you would have to try it to know where I coming from you won't ever go back trust me.:)

Is this stuff two part epoxy?
with glues, just make sure they are safe to be put into salt water. some will release toxins as the salt breaks the glue down.

Its just a better form of cynoacralite (super glue) CA+ Gel is a designator for filling gaps in model plane building ,it cures slower and fills bigger gaps.Having a few seconds to slow down the curing (mear seconds ,instead of instant) also disapates heat slower (all super glues make heat) if you get the oderless its even safer. This will harden to a crystaline just like crazy glue cause it is the same thing just better to work with.

I used Mainstays Gel Super Glue about 4-5" away from a hammer frag I had and it's shrivling it up ... oh no. what did I do??????
is this the wrong stuff? its got the cyanoacylate as the ingredient...so what the hell?

actually, in considering other potential causes for this...
just last night I introduced a couple xenia frags and used the toothpick method. they aren't completely opened and one is looking worse than the other... maybe one/both are emitting their slime - fairly close to the frag. 6-8" away
so, I moved the frag to a different spot.
but, still...is the mainstays gel super gel ok for inside the tank? it's gotta be, right?

It seems strange to me that super glue would be safe for our reef tanks. Water quality is such an important factor- what the heck is in super glue anyways? I would be scared to use glue in my tank. Seems like a lot of people use it though.
