Super high ph Salt mix !

I just got some bio sea salt mix. At 1/2 cup per gallon it has a ph of 8.8 after 24 hours in my mixing bucket! The salinity is normal at 1.023. How can I get the ph down so I can use this water?

they sell PH Up and PH down at petsmart or ***** or LFS.

Maybe you got a bad batch of salt. That is extremely high. I would take it back. Are you mixing it with DI water?

I have rodi with a low ph. And I got the saltmix on line so I don't know if I can return it. Should I get something different instead of trying to fix it?

Sounds like a bad batch to me, have you double checked your test kit and tested it twice. You should also check the alk and Ca and see what those levels are.

Personally yea, I would just toss it. Id go to the LFS and get something new, its 10-15bucks for new salt but hey worth it, ur gonna spend that much trying to balance it out.

I don't have calc/alk tests. I have a fowlr. My main tank is fine, it's just this new bag of salt mixing to high ph in my mixing bucket. So just get new salt? I've had bad luck with instant ocean and now with bio sea. How about Oceanic? I had a small bag of it and it seemed fine. Any other suggestions?

What are you testing the pH with?
What type of water are you using to mix the salt with, what is the pH of it before you mix the salt.
It seems strange that you are having trouble with 2 lots of salt.

The ph eventuallly went down so I am going to go ahead and use this salt. It just took longer to stabilize. I've made 2 batches of it and they both took a while to go down. I use aquarium pharmaceuticals test kit. And my rodi unit makes water with a ph of 7.4-5.
I didn't have trouble with the ph of Instant Ocean. It was giving a reading of ammonia .25 even freshly mixed with rodi. I bought a salifert ammonia test and it showed .25 also.
