those are some cool pictures...how are the sally light foot crabs,,, are they good to have,,, i have a anemone crab,,and two emerald crabs... then i haves some hermit crabs...thankyou for sharing your pictures.. have a great day...
their claws are tiny, i believe they are reef safe (this site says they are). that sally light foot is probably the hardest worker in my tank. i dont see it ever stop eating unless it is scuttling around. it is FAST too. if it wants to go from one rock to another, it jumps and swims across. im actually debating getting another and getting rid of some of my mythrax (sp) crabs. i guess though they do get big, which is what is holding me off.

You are right. Not sure which crab I was thinking about. Now I am thinking of getting me one!
good deal! i've had mine for 3 months, and it has molted once so far. they will eat just about anything you put into the tank, so i give it a little bit of raw shrimp every once in a while, and it will jump at the frozen food as it floats by.
hehe, they are interested in them, but have cleaned off my snails more than bothered them. and, used them for footing. mine is very skittish, so it would probably leave shrimp alone. it didn't bother my pistol shrimp.
I haven’t seen my Sally Crab in over a month. She was around the first two days after she came out of the quarantine tank but haven’t seen her since. Is that unusual?
She was very active in those two days. My other fish are Tang, Lawnmower Bennie and a clown.
The sally was part of the 30-90 gal clean up crew from SWF.
I never had any problems keeping mine with a fire shrimp and green emerald crab however mine began chomping on zoo's like they were there to be his dinner plate so as soon as I converted to reef he had to go. they are SUPPOSE to be reef safe though.
i don't know how big they get, but mine is about 3" long, about 1" front to back, and 1/4" tall.
michaelt: i honestly dont know. mine has been visable the whole time ive had it. i lose it once in a while in my new live rock, but not longer than 5 minutes. it is constantly moving and constantly eating.

hmm, i just put tthree zoas in my tank last night, i'll keep an eye out on the crab. it might have just been interested in them, i can't see the pinsers being strong enough to hurt anything--they are so tiny.

I dont know I think I just got one with a taste for corals. he easily pulled peaces off them with his pinchers. I've seen others in reef tanks such as at the pet store with no problems what so ever besides walking over stuff.
wow, mine is so skittish that if my fish go near it, or even if my star bumps up against it, it flies away. maybe i got a good one then! their claws are so tiny i can't imagine that.
Ok, I knew I wasn't crazy about their reef safety. I read in my book last night Marine Invertabrates by Shimek and it stated that they tend to eat algae when small but as adults develop taste for fish and possibly corals. I'm paraphrasing since the book is at home. Now I don't know if that's the norm for these guys because I can find difference in opinion on other items throughout my various books.
