Suppliment problem

I was wondering if you guys and gals turn off your protein skimmer when you dose your tanks. Also, how long do you leave them off. I was thinking that I am loosing suppliments due to the use of the protein skimmer while dosing. It seems that my levels will not increase when I leave it on. Thanks.

when i add supplements, which is daily, i turn my skimmer off for about an hour. then it goes back on. It has worked well for me thus far. I don't know if it helps or not, but my LFS guy said he does it both at the store, and in his own tank at home.

Then again I don't turn mine off.....I dose approx 1 gal per day to my reef.....I use seachem reef advantage/builder/buffer.......my calcium alkalinity and ph have stabalized at 450 ppm..3.5-4.0 meg/l & 8.3.....so I don't think the skimmer is adversely affecting the additives........did take a while on a regular dose schedule to balance out though.......
