Surface skimmer for JBJ cube?

I was at my LFS and saw that they were selling what I think they were calling surface skimmers. Anyone have one of these? Just a little piece of plastic that clips on? It looks to have cleaned up their tank well and wanted to know if they worked since they were inexpensive.

It's easy to make your own.
I cut a notch out of the top of my 12gal JBJ just above the filter intake.
I'm in FL, on vacation, right now...so, I dont have any pics.

They work great, however, I do not have the JBJ version. I purchased mine from another user on these forums named jacksdad. He makes them himself. They are $40, but great quality and look very professional. With the JBJ ones, fish and other critters can get caught behind them and die, his is tighter so that cannot happen.

How do the fish get caught behind it? I don't have $40 but I do have the $11 for the JBJ one. Is there are a way to modify it to prevent this from happening?

There is a gap between the back of the skimmer and the intake grate. JBJ's skimmer has a gap of about 5/8 inch, maybe a little less. So any small critters can climb or get sucked into that gap. With my skimmer the gap is less than 3/16 of an inch.
If you are interested in my skimmer I am more than willing to work with you as far as payment is concerned.
Gluing a piece of plexiglass onto the top of the JBJ skimmer is an option, but remember the only thing holding that skimmer up is suction. So everytime you turn off your powerhead you need to remove the skimmer. With mine that is not necessary because it is held on with magnets (completely covered with epoxy)
