Amen brotha - Anything that can reproduce the corals environment as well as possible... Are you going to have a surge on either side of your tank?

not for the 75g but when I set up the 125 I may build another for the other end of the tank. I think a 3 gallon surge will be sufficient for the 75 for now.

my fianceee just figured out where the surge device has to be placed (I was measuring up to put a shelf there) and slightly freaked. only slightly, she didnt say I couldnt do it. but she was kind of upset that the bucket and shelf are going to be directly in front of the street side window.

she asked why everything has to go in front of the window... I explained that it has to go there because thats where the tank ends. once the 125 is there, the tank will be in front of the window and the bucket will be off to the side.
I guess she was ok with that because she did not forbid me from setting it up.

Ah, stay single.
There's a video that I was trying to find on youtube that you could also do for a surge device. I hope I will find it soon. I'll post it on here.

tonight I should have 2.0 ready. I just made the final trip to home creepo. I need to install the emergency overflow on it. then build a shelf for it to sit on. once i get it up and running I'll post some more pictures, as well as (hopefully) a video of the surge. (as long as I dont get too into the beer tonight.... LOL)

Following along there ReefkprZ
Your pretty correct you will find that will all surge devices you will have some induction of air bubbles into the display tank...some designs worse than others....I've actually been working out surge devices for my new setup and been working with another reefer who had them built for her custom tank...
I don't think you'll actually gain anything from all the extra plumbing and "S" snake work though.....SaraB over on -- uses the surge tanks, her friend Rod built them and tweak them, and I've been picking both their minds on the tanks....The idea I thought of, would adding a "vent" line to the line going into the tank have any affect on bubbles emitted into the DT?????
Also height pipe diameter will affect flow surge to the tank as well.....
I'm going to start playing myself here shortly!!!!!
