What was everyone's first REAL fish. I know most of you had damsels, chromids, or clownfish to start your tank, but what was the first...delicate/pricy (for lack of better words) fish you bought?

all of them were a bit pricy (ot me), but the first delicate and pricy was our kol's tang, and we love him(not very delicate, but enough), before that we got our firefish and they are great too

The most expensive so far is juv. Emp. Angel. She is doing wonderful. Well worth the wait and the price.

Blue spotted ray was first.
LFS sold "everything I needed" to get started.
2 stage wisper (mechanicial & chem filter)
UGF
heater
sand
heater
salt
Oh, I already had a 45 ga tank that was
"Just the rite size".
Needless to say he did'nt last a week.
Everything I know is from expirence and now from here. I tried the book thing, but computers are my resource more than books.
Oh well...live and learn.

Francis, my Red Sea Purple Tang was my most expensive fish. But my Percula Clowns were before her.

The first fish in the tank after the cycle was a pork puffer, then our niger trigger that we now have in our 200. The most expencive would be our Juv. Emporator Angel we paid $65.00 for him, and he was worth every penny. Lisa <img src="graemlins//angel.gif" border="0" alt="[angel]" />

First fish was a Niger Trigger (still here and living excellent), and the most expensive is my new passer angel. :)

A flame angel that died on me from ich :( I paid $45.00 for him. I miss that fish .... it added color to the tank, and it was an active fish, too. Maybe some other time I will get another ......

I would have to say the regal angel. She has been around for 2 months now, and has not lost any weight. I got her for $25, but that is only because they have a 30% chance of living in captivity.
I have got my fingers crossed! ;)

My first was a lemonpeel angel, very active, graceful. He died when my tank suffered a mysterious die-off. Everything in tank, save a few snails and crabs, died over the course of 8 hours. I still haven't figured out why. Well, I know what caused it, HUGE nitrite spike, but cause of spike still undetermined. I went to bed, everything fine, woke up, everything dead in my old 55 gallon tank. I'm in the process of taking the tank down to sell it, and transferred everything from old tank to new 72 bow, which just got a clean up crew put in yesterday.
