Ok, so I thought it would be fun to hear the actual pronounciations of some of the things we talk about every day.
My first one I'm wondering about if Crocea clams. Is it Crow-See-ah?
If you have the answer go ahead and psot it. if you don't have the answer, but wondering abotu something esle you've heard ask away.
My favorite is copepods
one of my local fish store guys calls them cocopods LOL
It is my understanding that it is said Cope-pods

Ok, "Crocea" isn't there, but for Copepod: http://www.merriam-webster.com/audio.php?file=copepo01&word=copepod&text=%5C%3CSPAN%20class%3Dunicode%3E%CB%88%3C%2FSPAN%3Ek%C5%8D-p%C9%99-%3CSPAN%20class%3Dunicode%3E%CB%8C%3C%2FSPAN%3Ep%C3%A4d%5C
good stuff, so that guy pronounces it like cope-a- pod
Well I know that one at least I THINK I do: Copepod is pronounced
Co-pee-pod Co(long O) Pee (long E) Po
d (short o)
I have asked about this one, but to date have gotten no answer.
Fuscus
Seahorse? I have been saying Fuss-cuss

O man, I say copepods like copo-pods. Not sure if it's right...
I take phone calls at swf and it is sooooo funny the things I hear! We don't make fun of people but we do giggle. My favorite ever was a favorite customer that talked about his cleaner walrus lol!

I have gotten the term "enema" for anemone. Anenome is VERY common.
Fish lingo is difficult in the beginning.
What is the correct pronunciation for copepods?

Merriam-Webster pronounces it "cope-a-pod" (the link I posted above is an audio sounding of the word) :)
Fuscus is another one of those that's too species specific to be in Merriam-Webster :(

I'll bet this word is pronounced at least 5 different ways: chaeto :)
One of the guys at my LFS who seems really knowledgable says it's pronounced "Kee to" (with a long "o" sound)

LOL...The only saving grace is that everyone else is just as in the dark about how to say this stuff as we are. I was saying Chaeto the same like the Green hornets side kick...
