So you only have 2 sockets to put lights in
Im missing the whole 4 lgihts thing.. what light system do you have again
I have the 48" version of that fixture. So that is (2) sockets for Actinic and (2) sockets for daylight bulbs.
I also figured out what the 50/50 bulbs purpose is. They are for people that have a fixture (like the picture you posted) with only two sockets and they want to have both Actinic and daylight. Of course combining the two does bring the overall light output down. So there only real purpose is people who can't accommodate (4) bulbs and need the benefit of both types.
I also visited the LFS that is about 5 mins from the house. They are all SW and run what looks to be a great operation. It is a husband/wife owned business and they both are very nice and seem to be quite knowledgeable. I spoke with both of them for a good half hour to 45 mins. They have a big invert shipment coming in the middle of this week so I will be stopping in later this week to start building my CUC!
I want to get the Damsels out first, though, so I can trade them in. Which means I have to catch them...ha.

OK, goals for today:
- Decide on refractometer
- Decide on Koralia powerheads and arrangement
REFRACTOMETER
I have been looking around and reading up on these and I'd definately like to move in this direction, as opposed to the hydrometer that I currently use. What are some good ones to look at that are affordable, accurate, and dependable? I am currently eyeing the Milwaukee unit with ATC sold right here on SWF. I think ATC is a must, because I don't want to deal with temp correction conversion.
POWERHEADS
I started a discussion about in the Equipment area of the forum, feel free to join in.

UPDATE FROM YESTERDAY
- Mixed up 12 gallons of saltwater and it is currently curing in my vat (garbage can...
) with a powerhead keeping it moving. I'll be doing the water change either tonight or tomorrow night.
- I was checking out some algae that I am getting in the center section of my sump when I saw a small white critter scurry across the glass. As I got to thinking I determined that the small, white/clear, isopod-ish looking thing was probably a copepod. I looked closer and saw that I have quite the population going with a bunch in the 1/16"-1/8" size. I plan to seed the sump with live sand, but I already light the sump daily...so apparently the copepods have been building up their numbers lately. I guess it is sort of a half refugium since I don't have LS, LR, or chaeto.
QUESTION
- How exactly should I get the copepods from the sump into the DT? With my discovery of the population that I have going, I have added a Mandarin to my stocklist. So, I want to start getting a population going in the tank.

UPDATE FROM THE LAST FEW WEEKS
- Traded the (2) damsels in at the LFS
- Created a refugium in my sump. I already had a pretty good population of copepods in that section of my sump so I added LS, a few pieces of LR, cheato, and grape caulpera. Plants are growing good and I swap out a piece of LR to the DT every week or so to keep the pod population in the DT stimulated.
- Rearranged the LR for a more open swimming layout
- Did a 15% water change
- Added (2) Koralia 3s. It added a ton of flow compared to the one powerhead (175gph). In fact, it stirred up a lot of sediment and I ended up turning one off. Not sure if I should just run (1) K3 or just play with the arrangement of the them some more.
- Installed two brand new 10,000K PCs
ONWARD
- I will be ordering my CUC in the next few days. It will consist of a variety of snails, crabs, and shrimp. More details when they arrive.
- I am continuing to research my future stocklist. I will be starting another thread for that discussion. See thread here: https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/365735/my-75g-stocklist-ideas-critique-please#post_3138105
