The water your buying should be fine and not need any aeration. I normally make my own rodi and its not uncommon to have 30 or more gal in containers for a month or so.......I do aerate it prior to use if its mixed for salt water, but for top off, nope!

yeah, I don't airate for top off water, just water changes (and that's new for me, I didn't till lately, but water changes always stressed my fish, guess I know why!)

When you mix your fresh salt water, just airate the water over night and you'll be good to go. Or you can keep whatever amount mixed and airating for how ever long till you need it, without a problem. I've kept the salt and water mixed without a problem for a while, then I just airate it before I use it.
Whoa. Your wicked quick on those replies. That's excellent news. I think I'll be getting some big jugs tomorrow! It may be a stupid question, but do you keep a cap on the jugs?

When I make tank water, I have a special drum I made. It is a 30 gallon drum with the top cut off, bulkhead fitting in the bottom and top I screw a Quiet one 3000 pump in the bottom with a return to the top fitting. Time for a water change I add 25 gallons of R/O water, salt, turn pump on, let it circulate for 24 - 48 hours. Syphon 25 gallons out of my tank, hook the hose up to a Y fitting of the return line on my drum and fill my tank up again. Of course I make sure all parameters are as close as possible first. Quick and easy, no muss, no fuss.

I have no idea what that means, but it sounds great! No lifting buckets and sloshing water around? I suppose the hubby will come in handy when he translates your post!

yes, I keep the caps on...esp with a cat...but you don't want anything to get into the water.

that's sounds cool...
when Katrina was coming, I told my parents they could go to my place, I had 15 gallons of water in the kitchen, and two bottles of crown in the frig and clean sheets and towels, no other food though. I told them they could drink the water, just not from the jug, and if the gallon said DON"T DRINK, not to drink it (I mix plant water also...)
One day, I'll have a place to set up something like that. I always make such a mess. And I can't lift much, which is why I do 1gallon jugs, not 5 or 7 or 10.

I'm bored, did water change yesterday on both tanks... can't really do much with them...
i could clean...but I'd rather post here....
