Swapping filters on the fly ?

I want to get rid of the noisy Skilter I started with and put in an emperor 400. I figured I could put both in the tank together and take one of the filter media out of the Skilter. My question is how long should I leave both in before removing the Skilter.? <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

By the way, I don't have in fish in the tank at the moment, just a clean up crew.

I'd run both filters for 1 month then remove the Skilter. Unless you are in a hurry - which we should never be in with this hobby.
If it looks unsightly with 2 hanging there - so be it.
Better safe than sorry IMO

Thanks, I'll use both methods and leave them both in for a couple of weeks, then dump the Skilter into the Emperor.
