OK...I must ask....why are all your powerheads pointing up?
Looks ok....are there any caves in that rock? The Coral Beauty need some algae in it's diet...I love the bubble tip..LOL...apparently the clown does too....
Suggestion.....get a solid background...makes a BIG difference....and clean your glass LOL

+1 for the background! I have a black background, it hides all the wires and makes everything stand out more (IMO) I like your black clown!

Ya, I have a background that the wife got me for Christmas that I don't like (its like a fresh water background with plants and stuff), so I need to get a different one or paint. It is planned for the future. With the power heads I had one pointed a little down and it moved the sand a bit too much. I guess I should try to find a place where I can point it down to hit the rocks more just to improve the flow.
The glass needs to be cleaned better, The wife and I just had our second daughter on 1/6/11 so life has been a bit crazy the last couple of weeks. All the spots on the back glass are coraline algea and I thought that that was not too bad. Am I wrong?
And yes the Coral Beauty does get algea sheets and I feed Emerald Entree in the rotation of frozen foods.
For the background what does everyone think... Blue or Black???
Thanks for the input!

All three are good looking fish! My favorites! Yes, a background would keep those distracting mechanics hidden. I took the background off the back of my tank once the algae had covered the back. I like the natural background better. And, yes, coraline algae is good (well, a good sign the tank is healthy I suppose), but it's a pain to scrape. Happy problem? Keep it up! And, enjoy the new daughter!

HEY CONGRATS ON THE NEW BABY

I prefer black backgrounds, I was just talking about the front of the tank..LOL....looked like water spots
As far as the powerheads, you might want to get another Koralia, and place it in the left back corner mid-bottom pointing towards the front glass....this way it will give you some circulation within the tank

I also prefer black, it makes intakes, PHs, returns and the like a bit less noticeable, IMO

You got me Meowzer. Totally water spots in the front of the glass. LOL. I was scraping every other day or two. Guess I have to make it a daily task.
For the power head. The wife cut my fish budget to the bare minimum so no new toys for a bit. Can I just reposition the Maxijet on the left to the position you mentioned?
I think that I will pick up a solid background tonight and put it on this weekend when I do a WC. Thanks again for the feedback. I was super nervous to post any pics for fear of getting lit up too much.

I LOVE the new avatar....so cute...
If it were me....LOL...I would place the koralia where I said, and leave the maxi jet pointing up....(you can also place it on the right side mid-bottom) HAHA on the right side it looks like you have some top flow from your filter...so again
Just my opinion
leave the maxi jet where it is.....move the Koralia to the mid-bottom back wall...pointing towards the front at a slight angle to the left ... this way the water will kinda bounce off the front glass

Update:
Did some cleaning of the glass and added the background. I think it looks a ton better with the background. I think that I have a bubble problem. What can I do to reduce the amount of micro bubbles? My skimmer( HOB Reef Oct) puts out a good amount of them from the return into the tank. Any ideas how to tune his kind of skimmer?
Thanks.

I had one of those skimmers....I HATED IT.....I could never get rid of the bubbles...so finally I got rid of the skimmer and got an aqua c remora
I have been told the motor on the octo is too big
IDK....it skimmed, but the bubbles drove me crazy

I hate HOBs...try making the hose from the skimmer to the motor longer...maybe traveling farther will lower the power of the moter and stop it from spitting bubbles...This trick worked on my coralife skimmer and it might help you.

Looking good.
Longer hose on intake + point return from skimmer upwards so that the bubbles ( if any ) go straight to the surface to pop.

There is an air hose and the pvc pipe that connects the pump to the skimmer box. Do you mean make the air hose longer??? Or the PVC pipe longer? The bubbles only come out of the return to the tank pvc pipe and I find this to be super weird, because the return to tank chamber of the skimmer does not have any bubbles in it. It is almost as if the return pipe is pulling air from the top opening ( If I knew how to draw on one of the pics I would but you might be able to see the return on the FTS the before and after adding the background. The return is turned a bit to the right.). Who know?!?!? Are the bubbles bad (other then super annoying)?
Thanks for the help folks!!

intake of water. I think that adding pipe to make the output point up towards the surface might help.
Bubbles are annoying and harmful if small enough to get stuck on your fishies gills.

For Meowzer,
Did you see that I moved the Koralia to the mid-bottom back wall? I had it pointed almost completely level and within 5 min it blew the sand almost to the glass ( I have about a 2-3 in sand bed), so I angled it up a bit. I guess I will let that go for a week or so and see if it helps the flow at the bottom of the tank.
