Hey I was looking at some fish from SWF for when my tank finishes cycling. I heard someone say that there was a minimum order price. Is this true? Thanks for the info... peace

The minimum order price of 79$ is if you want the free shipping. Otherwise you can buy as much or little as you want.

For Live Goods orders a minimum order amount of $79.00 (not including surcharge or fuel charge) must be met in order to complete your purchase. Please continue to add items to your cart in order to reach this amount.

If you check other websites, they'll sell you one fish or one anemone, but you'll pay $35+ for the shipping. The $79 minimum is really pretty fair, considering that it includes shipping (except for a $10 handling charge and a few bucks for fuel).
The hard part is that it's difficult to get up to $79 and not overwhelm your tank with too much new life too quickly. The only way it usually works is if you're ordering a piece or two of coral, plus a fish or something. But they're so low on coral right now that it's nearly impossible!

Yeah SWF.com is pretty reasonible when it comes to shipping. I have seen other sites ask for as much as $200.00 minimum. The only hard part is coming up with $80.00 worth of livestock.

I was going to respond similar to uberlink on the additional shipping charges other sites add but also if you check the pricing on other sites, swf.com usually beats them hands down.
I guess the way they keep their pricing so cheap and the reason they are able to offer free shipping is due to the minimum order policy.

When I've shopped here in the past if the livestock I am looking at does not add up to get the free shipping I usually throw in some crabs, shrimp or other stuff like that to get there. Of course I dont know how far away you are if your close this might help!

That's what I do also. They are way cheaper than anywhere else I've ordered from, and I think the quality is better here also.

Journey, I placed an order with them last night that went throught just fine. This is my first fish order and believe me, sitting watching live rock cure, i've had a lot of time to shop. SWF.com had the best final price on what i wanted. i sure wish i could have gotten a couple of small zoos though. wrong time of year for such i hear.

maybe someonecould answer a question about the special price list ? sa, royal gramma for $1.99 yellow tangs for $ 1.99..I thought i"d run up a bill close to 80$..but the price ended up about $125.00..they also say free shipping next to each item..How does this work?I could justify $29.99 for a flame angel plus shipping..which would still be about $10. less then my lfs..but the price came up differnet when I ran up my order..do these prices come after you build up your order to $78.00? :notsure:
