I saw a thread last few weeks bashing SWF practice of sending snails and such w/out water in the bag and half of the orders dieing b/c of it. I am going to order a CUC and was wondering if this is still their practice and has anyone ordered inverts from them lately?
Dont wana waste my money if there gona be dead when they get here. Any comments from people who have ordered from here ? This will be my first order.

SWF Has a policy on dead critters---obviously they wouldn't intend to send you something dead, it does them no good.

The hoops you have to jump through on their dead critters is crazy though. Read some of the threads on it.
Guys i aim not bashing SWF at all, its just that a few weeks ago there was a thread where alot of people were complaining about them shipping CUC in dry boxes and half showing up dead .
I was just trying to see if they changed this policy lately b/c some posters said they were going to email them about it.
I wana buy from here and prob. will but i dont want to order 10 and only 5 live b/c the way they were shipped.

I had the same thing...ordered 2 different types of snails and the bag shipped without water didn't do so good. They were great about the returns though. I did send them a note about them all being in the bag without water, so maybe they've looked into the problem?
I haven't had any problems with returns when something doesn't make it...none of my lfs stores around here have any sort of return policy so to me it's worth it. All the stuff I've ordered has been extremely nice specimens.

I'm not a mod, but I've ordered several times from SWF.com and whenever I had a problem, they dealt with it very quickly and to my satisfaction. I had some snails and a couple of crabs not survive, but not sure of the cause either, but they did give me credit wihtout any grief! Not sure if this was before the new ownership or not however.
Seems like mine were all shipped in water, hermits, and all snails, the cleaner clams I dont think were tho.

I lost 17 of 20 turbo snails which were sent without water. I did send them back at my expense (~$3 shipping) and managed to get them to credit my credit card rather than get an in store credit. I am very happy with everything else I've gotten here, but I will not be ordering anything that doesn't ship without water. Just my opinion and experience.

The 10 nassarius snails, fighting conch and all hermits were shipped in water. They all made it. Only the turbos were shipped without water and the majority of them didn't make it. Coincidence? Perhaps, but the statement you made is certainly not true about SWF.com
*CORRECTION* I just remembered that the hermits were not shipped in water.

That is not correct. I ordered a cleaning crew from *another major site* and everything I ordered came in bags filled with water.
Snails in my order were:
10 SW - Margarita Snail
10 Banded Trochus Snail
I just received them a week ago.

having wholesale accounts,I can tell you that most of the snails an hermits get shipped without water. I would bet most of SWF come like that assuming they order from similar suppliers.

it is common practice to ship some things without water with them it saves on shipping and 99% of the time there are no problems on occasion just like everything there are miss haps that cause deaths in shipping. one thing that has been said is that why would a company putposely ship something with or without water knowing that it would die. I have gotten many shipments from all different area with group orders and most do not ship with water anymore.
