So I've noticed I've got a massive growth of green hair algae along the WHOLE tank really fast, my ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels pretty much haven't registered at all. The only I'm getting positive results on is nitrates...which isn't really registering in my brain why. The only thing I can think of is I used half cured live rock from a display from LFS covered in algea growth of all kinds. The other half of live rock was already curing at another LFS. Anyone got ideas?

Maybe my stupidity, but I gave my girlfriend a list of some of the stuff I wanted to get for the tank as in a few weeks. Well, I didn't mention to her the process for cycling and this stuff showed up at my door yesterday and today. Hopefully, considering my water tests where coming out spot on, and talking with some people on other forums, I'm hoping my tank is somewhat ok and won't kill off everything in it so I'll keep testing everyday. But there's always that questioning in the back of my head....anyways, on to the goodies I guess. Oh, and I accidentally put on the list an ORA Pearlberry and forgot that it wasn't right for my lighting, and she bought that for me too, so I'm gonna see if I can somehow find a proper home for it so it won't die on me. I'd feel really bad

I guess I can just keep updating. So I went to Home Depot and bought a chord to rewire the moonlights, put the whole tank on a programmable timer. Also bought a dremel, so cut out some of the slots on the side for better ventilation. Now I have been busy reading for hours about lighting, and still haven't decided if it's gonna be worth adding another 24W light into the fixture. I took the bulbs out, and found a way to make it fit, but would it even be worth it? And what about switching to 50/50 bulbs? I ordered LED resistors, voltage sources, bulbs, wires and such, to upgrade the moon lights. I'll be adding (or trying to) two blues, and two whites into the hood to help transition the lights into a "dusk" affect for the tank. Anyways, I have these being shipped tomorrow

Sure are! I started the tank with half fully cured live rock, and water from my 55 gal. Never saw a spike ever on anything, unless you call an algae bloom a spike...I swear I can sit here and watch that stuff grow right before my eyess.

Digital Thermometer
Koralia Nano
plus some extra wiring goodies I've got planned.
You know, the thermometer that I have is also a digital thermometer. It is a little more pricey (about 80.00) but I absolutely love it. It is accurate to .5 of a degree. If you go on my thread I talk about it in the first page. It is here in the nano section.

Yeah, bummer though. I wanna see them all open in the tank at once so I can see how it's coming along. Plus I wanna post some good pictures. Good news is they opened right up when I put them in. I guess they're just shy today
