Switching Tanks

Hi everyone,
I will be switching out my acrylic tank for a glass one soon. I currently have a DSB w/ about 160lbs LS. The DSB is about 1.5 yrs old and has lots of life in it.
When I start to switch over to the new tank, can I seed the new sand with the current DSB w/ all its life in it, or would this be a big mistake?
I would hate to waste the flourishing sandbed with all its inhabitants.
Thank you for the help :)

Of course. As long as there were no disease problems or copper treatments. It will help the new tank to cycle faster too. Lesley

Thanks Leslybird,
That is what I thought, but I keep reading how if one disturbs a DSB, it could kill fish in the tank. I was not sure if I transfered the sand to the new tank, it would cause a huge ammonia spike.
Thanks again for the help

There w/b a mini cycle. If fish will be kept in alterantive quarters, then let the tank complete it's cycle which shouldn't take long. If fish are going to be in the new tank, then keep test kits handy and control mini cycle with water changes. Good luck.
