switching to larger tank

Can anyone give me some help. I want to expand my horizons and move on to a larger tank. 75 gallons, hopefully.
Any suggestions on how to switch over my stock from my existing tank to the new one. do I need to start the larger one from scratch, i.e. cycling and the whole routine or can it be done a little quicker by using water, sand etc out of existing tank.
I currently have a Bak Pak w/skimmer and a Magnum running on my current tank (40 gals), will this suffice the bigger tank? I'm thinking not. What additional should I get.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

I am also planning to move my 29 gallon tank to a 46 bow front. I am going to put everything in buckets set up the new tank then move eveything in. I dont think you would have to cycle the tank again if your adding your already established sand, live rock, and filters onto the new tank. Just to be safe though add anything new you want to get slowly. Good luck!

I think that reefchic is right if you move lets say half of your water and half of your substrate
to the new tank one week and move the rest the next you might be allright I think that you will need a bigger filter, protien skimmer for the bigger tank
this is just my opinion
please take it as that and NOT fact
I hope this helps

you should be okay, but keep an eye out for probs before they happen. just keep an eye on your water parameters to be sure. just try to be swift about it and let the new setup run as long as possible before you introduce your fish. you don't want to rush and risk stressing your fish. also, the more established live rock you have now will help ease the whole process. you may want to make sure to leave the magnum with the already established filter just the way it is, just in case you need the extra bacterial help at first. good luck.

I really appreciate the responses I've gotten regarding moving up to a larger tank.
Keep them coming!! Since I have the Bak Pak2 and the Magnum (which I was told handled a tank up to 90 gals)what other filter/skimmer should I get.
