Glad to help, and im glad it helped him change his mind! I had very little CC under my rocks, they were in before the CC, except for 1 or 2 which i moved to get the CC out, i just used my fish net to scoop it all out, and its a freakin mess!!! i cleaned out the Cc the day before my LS got here, when i ordered it from SWF.com, i gave them specific instructions on what day i wanted it delivered, and they were right on. any way then i just used my hand to get out from under the front of the LR, there was a small amount left over, but very minimul amount, im not going to worry about it, if it comes to the top, ill just scoop it out, but there probly only 2 cups worth of cc left in the whole tank. Good luck, and i dont mind questions at all. Yell if you need anything else. Todd

In the before pic it looks like you have some algae. Is that hair algae?
It looks like it went away. Did it??
I have some CC left in my tank (about 1/4) I want to get rid of it.

i just did the same thing with my 55. did u cure your live sand before u put all of your coral back in? i always thought that like live rock kive sand had to be cured. anyway my live sand is curing right now and i have 45 lbs of live rock coming for it. $2.25 a pound. what a steal. what a painj in the butt it was taking the cc out.

After taking the CC out, what was the method to get the sand in? Just pour it in carefully?
Did you leave the livestock in while doing this? And if so, did it have any negative effects? It seems like there would be a lot of "dust" floating around the tank. I'm just wondering if that can hurt things.

i took all of my livestock out and put them in another tank. there was tons of stuff floating around. the best waty to do it is to empty all the water out of the tank first then take all the cc out and put your sand in while there is no water in it. then put the water in afterwards.

Hagfish, i left all my fish in and just slowly poured in the sand, 1 small bucket at a time, it clouded the water pretty good, but it cleared within 1 day, didnt lose a single fish... I posted a question about what to do when i switched over and everyone said just leave the fish, and they were right.. Good luck ! Todd
