System overload

We need help or suggestions......we are having "just ask gramma" syndrome....our tank has been set up and running and testing like a charm (6 weeks) and just begginng to add livestock until yesterday when the kids gramma had a "large load" of items delivered to our doorstep for the new tank......we had to re-arrange the LR to accomodate our new guest and because we weren't expecting any "new arrivals" my QT Tank is not set up yet....we had just begun to add QT'd cleaning crews from my friends tank into ours..crabs, shrimp, etc. Now we have a problem......my water tests are fine BUT in my "new arrivals" (of which my friend did not have room for inthe QT) we received 2 chromis (one of them won't swim, it just sits in the corner), 1 percula clown, 1 bubble corral, 1 rock with 4 mushroom polyps and a condi.....problem....the "lone damsel" we added 2 weeks ago now has bubble eye (and i only learned what that was about 2 hours ago). What do i do?? I can't take on all these things at once can I and survive with my new tank set up???? We have prepared new water which is overnighting tonight for the water change as suggested in the FAQ's for popeye but I don't think we are near ready for gramma's little present.....have already called dear Mother in Law and gritted teeth while explaining that this is not a gold fish tank and that she can't do this anymore and these were internet ordered (not SWF.com) so it's not likely now that I can return the shipment.....If we monitor everything and keep water changes up will we make it through this??? Or should I see if I can get rid of some of these things now at lfs??? DANG!! so mad now don't know what to do......thought we were right on schedule....:(
Sorry so long but this is just crazy!!
Thanks for any help!

i dont know if it will or not because everyones system is different, but i thought i would share that in a 2 month old tank i added
1 yellow wrasse
1 watchman goby
1 percula clown
1 hawkfish
1 yellow tang
1 cleaner shrimp
10 hawaiin hermits
all at the same time.... and they all survived and are living well to this day. i might get slammed for this but i dont care. i think i just have tons of bio filtration, i did a water change a month after adding the fish.

Thanks for reply....didn't think anyone was going to give me their 2 cents worth in here....seems like my tank is going to hell in a hand basket and all the reading in the world can't undo gramma's good intentions but man it's stressful! I hate to lose all that livestock while I am still figuring out what I am doing..... :scared:

Hey dude don't sweat it. The corals etc. should be ok as long as you have the lighting etc. Just acclimate them and they should be fine. IMO I would worry too much about the 5 dollar damsel, but the perc would kinda be sad to lose. Sorry, I just really don't like dang damsels they are devils.

Yeah i know the damsel doesn't count for much but he's the first and we've had a rough start together...sure hate to lose him like this anyway....:) His tank mate had a tragic rock accident the night we brought them home....that's how I learned that those rocks really need to be stable! lol anyway, since then we have been figuring things out together and he's been a real trooper living in my "early water"...hate to see him suffer like this.....man that popeye stuff is horrible looking.

Although it's a relatively new tank to be adding too much live stock at once, or even an establish tank for that matter. I don't think it's that much of a bio load you are adding since the new shipment from gramma contains only 3 small fish and some corals. You should be ok, note that corals and inverts does not add to the bio load of a tank that much. The thing to look out for is adding too many fishes at the same time.
As for your damsel with the popeye, I have tried a product(forgot name)that is an eyedrop for the fish. You applied it to the infected eye once every other day. It worked like a charm for my majestic angel. If you want I'll look up the name of the eyedrop.

and I was just upset about getting corals when I am just now trying to decide what type of lighting I need for the corals I would like to add down the road...I really didn't need this right now.....but hey....if there is a will there is a way and then there's the other way....:) Maybe they will live...the perc and the one chromis seem to get along together and except for the popeye and the cloudy water maybe this is doable the more i read and the more I calm down....
Thanks for replies

She might have rushed it a little, but be sure and get some lights asap. If it's gonna be awhile ask your lfs to hold onto the stuff for you, maybe. Still some nice additions I bet.
So you live west of Amarillo, that's cool. I guess we are pretty close then. I live in Elk City, on I-40 about 50 miles from the Tx. line. Is there alot of fish stores in Amarillo? Might have to make a trip.

I have only found 2. Can talk about other lfs in here?? e-mail me at dandjvogler@amaonline.com and I will put their names out to you there just in case.
And yes, it is nice stock but I just wasn't ready to get them all at once!! I have been so stressed out just trying to learn about my rocks and sand that I wasn't prepared for the stork to stop by!! Gramma says no more.....lol she will send cookies instead! :) Oh yeah, the damsel has passed on....:(

By two stores are you talking about Exotic Aquatics also??? Or is there one I havent been able to find? I'm right on the South tip of town (a few blocks from FP's) and I will gladly drive from here to the new one instead of going to fish pros.

I am thinking of trying that one.....it's on 6th isn't it?? Anyway, since my "crisis" last year I have been getting alot of my stock from this site because FP's isn't very "helpful" if you know what I mean....lol Anyway.....happy fish shopping!

No it's at 34th and Coulter right next to Santa Fe restaraunt. It's not big by any means, but their prices will make you go in to shock compared to FP's and they can get you anything you want. Most of the employees there are the good ones that USED to work at FP's.

Cool!! I will go see them ASAP.....tired of FP's giving me the run around anyway, and I know where that is....I just thought the radio stations were saying at 6th street.....my bad...Thanks for letting me know.....Do they have alot of stock to choose from??

Not right now they don't. They just started up a few weeks ago, their shop is just big enough to park my truck in, lol. But like I said they can get anything you want, which is good that they don't necessarily have it in stock, prevents impulse buying. This Thursday night between 7 and 9 they're going to be having a 20% off sale. They'll be getting the shipment in that day and they're just gonna leave it all in the bags and you take it home at a discounted price if you dare. Pretty sure there's no guarantee on that deal though, you know?

Yeah, I;ll bet no guarantees either.....and I agree with no impulse buying! lol Well if I can get into town Thursday night, I may just go check it out.....I've made worse decisions! lol Anyway, thanks again for the information.....have a good evening!
