on my older 75g I have a basic T-5 light strip with a 28W actinic and a 28W 10,000K.
My question is, can I support chaeto in a 75g tank with this lighting, I had to harvest it out of my fuge and I didn't want to throw it all away so I would like to grow it in one of my DT's also. thanks for the advice

Yes it will survive just fine. I can't think of a tank set up that it would applealing though. ( In a DT) If you don't like it in the DT and small amounts break up and get below rocks then you will have alot of trouble getting it out. Sell it cheap to another member who will gladly give it a new home.
So do you get a discount ?

I get a 10% discount which is really only like tax taken off and we only have FW fish which I wouldn't buy if I did have a FW tank lol

for SW we don't really have that much but I guess if I really needed it I would grab it there, kinda overpriced IMO too but alot of the "big" chain stores are.

Thnks for asking. Its been the worst experience of my life. The nerves are growing bach and the painfull burning feeling is getting less. They say it will take four to six months to be normal again.

Sorry to hear about the pain, but at least you have a full recovery to look forward to.

not sure what happened to your hand but sounds like you went through some pain, hope you get back to normal sooner than later and feel better.

What kind of lighting did you have in your fuge?
I have chaeto in mine, and I have a $7 clip on lamp from Walmart, with a 60w fluorescent bulb (energy type) running from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m.

are you asking me?
my fuge light is a shop light from home depot with a regular house bulb I think its 100w and I keep it on 24/7, and my DT's are on 8AM-930PM...
will the chaeto I put in the DT still grow with that light cycle?

How do I know

I just wasn't sure why you would think it wouldn't grow under T5's if it was growing with a regular light

cause I didn't know if 60W over a 75g was enough to support it, my fuge isn't that deep and my 75g is so I don't know the whole gallon to watt ratio thing....

I don't think (from reading) that the gallon to watt is as important as ...ugh...how do I say this...the type of light being put out
Like T5 puts out more ...PAR..than a std light bulb
like MH puts out more than T5...
ya know what i am trying really hard to say

I don't know much about lights or electricity so as long as it will grow then sounds good to me
