T5 bulb replacement recommendations

i have a 4 bulb 36" TEK t5 setup over my 25g. i got the light used and was told the fixture was 8 months old and ive now had it for about... 3 or 4 months. So ive been thinking that may be the cause of this little bit of brown algae i cant seem to get rid of. how often do t5's need to be changed? my lights stay on about 8 hours a day. i have a sump that uses filter socks and a modded asm g2 skimmer. the only things i can think of to fix the problem are the bulbs and possibly a uv sterilizer. suggestions/recommendations?

oh yea, also the tank houses a pair of clowns, a royal gamma, a pair of skunk shrimp, 2 starfish, a few astrea snails, a hermit, and assorted zoas. i want to get an anemone soon, but would like to clear up the algae first.

I hear the Geisman bulbs are good. That is what I am going to try when it is time to change mine out.

They are due to be changed out. As a bulb ages it burns out phosphors and caused your light output to shift towards the yellow range and will increase your algae growth.
Remember algae needs both light and food to exist; keep a close eye on the amount of food you introduce to the aquarium.
The Geiseman (sp) bulbs are good replacements.
