T5 lighting

how close to the water can a T5 bulb be without it exploding or becoming damaged due to water evaporation or a splash?????just curious 4-5inches???:help:

IMO you should have some kind of shielding between the water and the bulbs.

They'll do fine even 2" above the water as long as it's only small splashes.

I ran mine 4" inches above the tank, no shielding no problem. Of course they needed to be wiped down once a week because of the salt spray.

That's a good point. The closer they are the more often they need to be wiped down.
