T5's connections and PC combo?

OK I’m having lighting issues, one of my 2 PC ballasts are dead. So I woke up today, and a 3rd bulb is out, turn out that 1/2 of my other *working* ballast is now shot...so I’m running on 1/4 lights...EMERGENCY MUCH? It wont be long till the other dies.
So I’m getting a hood made...but in the mean time, I’m going to get ~48inch t-5's...Corallife 28 Watt T-5 Lamp 10k(RES58563 )and Blue(RES58583) and throw them into a PC’s light bar.
and for ballast's I guess I’ll get two Fulham’s WHAM2-120-213-L since there only 28w max.
Once the hood comes in, I’ll put the T-5's in it.
What about the connectors? I sniped on of the leads running to the bulb, and it was a very flexible and thin *copper* if it is even that. I was thinking I’d just solder the pins of the bulb to the wire leads with 40/60solder...Yes/No?
Also, for a mini-reef setup, is this “Enough” light for humans? I know that’s a dumb question, but these 2 t5’s will emit enough light for the tank, but will it bring out the color’s enough? Should I have the t5’s and a PC 10/B bar also? I think MH is a bit too much for me at this point, Plus money is tight since I’m going to get a larger stand and tank in the next month.
